Canon Production Printing

Canon Production Printing Netherlands B.V., in Venlo, the Netherlands, employs around 1900 people. The main activities are R&D, manufacturing and logistics of large format, sheetfed and cutsheet printing systems as well as supporting consumables and spare parts. A number of staff departments support these activities.

The case

On July 10th 2020, Canon Production Printing opened its new international headquarters building in Venlo for business. All head office functions will have a new joint home in this striking and sustainable building. At the same time the production facilities in Venlo, have been equipped with Oxycom's sustainable cooling solutions in order to ensure a sustainable and comfortable working climate for Canon's employees.

The challenge

Canon Production Printing involves high heat load production processes which release small dust particles responsible for warm and "polluted" air. With inside temperature reaching 40 °C; our customer was struggling to keep up with the high standard of their employees productivity. The biggest challenge was to find an affordable  "plug&play" solution which had to be able to deliver cooling to 3 production halls covering a total surface of 11.664 m².

The solution

In collaboration with the engineering company "CroonWolter&Dros", Oxycom installed 16 IntrCooll Plus dual-stag evaporative cooling units equipped with 9 Heat Reclaim modules. Our units deliver 100% clean, fresh, filtered outside air at the optimal temperature and humidity values. In this way we have been able to bring Canon's employees productivity back to the highest level.

The results

“We wanted easy to install and cost efficient units that would allow us to cool our production area, especially in the summer. Oxycom's IntrCooll units have certainly helped us achieve our goals. Thanks to Oxycom we have been able to increase the productivity and comfort of our employees. They can work now at 25 °C even when outside temperatures reach 36 °C. We are doing this with highly efficient energy units which allow us to save 90% on energy bills compared to traditional air conditioning.”
